Academic work

Much of my work is with academics based in the UK, Europe and Asia. I'm delighted to edit journal articles, pre-submission enquiries and book chapters, and I can edit in American or British English and to any particular style guide.

I work for senior and junior academics all around the world, in a whole range of fields, as well as being the in-house editor for several journals.

My fees are clear and transparent and I am already an approved supplier for a number of major universities.

Journals often have very specific requirements over language style, layout and formatting, not to mention the handling of figures and tables. It's a professional job, so publish with confidence knowing that a professional editor has also worked on your text.

I also have particular expertise in academic citations and references. Making sure references are correct is a highly specialised, crucial task. It can make or break an article; I have seen referencing errors noted in several peer reviews among reasons for articles being returned for revision.

Checking references to the proper standard sometimes, in fact, takes about the same amount of time as editing the text.

​Working to any of the major referencing styles, I use state-of-the-art software and specialist training to:

• Check that all in-text citations are referenced in the bibliography or reference list.
• Check that all reference list entries are cited in the text.
• Make sure that reference list entries are in a consistent and correct format.

Below I show an example of some references that I have worked on. In references 1 and 2, I queried elements that were missing, were inconsistent with the in-text citations or looked wrong. I edited reference 3 to conform to the journal's style guide.
